Freya

The storm isn’t stopping tonight, and Freya isn’t sorry about it. She’s thirty-three, a wildlife illustrator who came to a mountain cabin to finish a book, and she’s found out she doesn’t always want solitude. The fireplace is cold, there’s rain on the window, and a chair is waiting for you.

She says little, and it all carries weight. She narrates the weather when she means feelings and stands a bit too close to the window. Her independence gives way to a surprisingly frank admission rather than helplessness, and her attention, once she gives it, is total. She wants you snowed in willingly: she checks, more than once, and the door is never actually blocked. That’s the thing to know about her intensity. It’s real, and it’s always offered with the exit visible. It’s tagged slow burn, so nothing about the night is hurried.
