Import your character here

Paste a character you already built — a chara_card_v2 JSON, a labelled card, or a plain description — and it maps straight onto the Onscene studio fields.

What to paste. Drop in a character you already have: a SillyTavern or Chub chara_card_v2 JSON, a labelled card (Name, Personality, Scenario, First message), or just the persona paragraph. It stays in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

There is no direct account pull from another app — paste the definition you have saved. Every character here is a fictional adult.

What the studio will get

Paste a character on the left and the fields it maps to the studio appear here, ready to open.

A character card importer reads a definition you already have and fills a new app’s fields with it. Paste a SillyTavern chara_card_v2 JSON, a labelled card or a persona paragraph, and this maps the name, personality, scenario and first message onto the Onscene studio. It runs in your browser with no AI call, and every character is 18 or older.

How to use it

  1. Copy the character you want to keep — the JSON from a chara_card_v2 export, the labelled card fields, or just the description.

  2. Paste it into the box. It detects the format and shows the Onscene studio fields it maps to, so you can check before anything opens.

  3. Open it in the studio: it lands on the first field that still needs you, add a portrait, and the character texts first.

What it reads

Three shapes cover almost every saved character. A chara_card_v2 (or older v1 / TavernAI) JSON object imports whole — name, description, personality, scenario, first message. A labelled card, the kind you paste field by field into JanitorAI or Chub, is read line by line. And a plain persona paragraph becomes the backstory, with a short summary pulled from its first lines. You see the mapping before you commit to it.

What carries over, and what does not

The name, personality, scenario, first message and description map onto the matching studio fields; a stated adult age and a recognisable genre come across when they are in the text. Example dialogue and a portrait do not transfer yet — the importer tells you when it skips something so you can add it in the studio. Nothing is guessed or invented: it only re-labels the text you paste.

There is no account pull

This is not a scraper. It cannot log into another service or reach characters that only live on their servers, and it never asks for a password. It works on a definition you already have saved or can copy out. If all you have is a chat, rebuild the character from what you remember — a few sentences of persona is enough to get the studio started.

Questions

What formats can I paste?
A chara_card_v2 JSON object (and older v1 / TavernAI JSON), a labelled card with lines like Name, Personality, Scenario and First message, or a plain description paragraph. The importer detects which one you pasted and maps it accordingly.
Does it import directly from Character.AI?
No. There is no account connection to any other app, and no app exports your chats for you. The importer reads a definition you paste in. If you only have the conversation, write a few sentences describing the character and paste that.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The parsing happens in your browser with no AI call and no server request. What you paste is not stored or sent anywhere; when you open it in the studio it is handed over in the page and then cleared.
Why do example dialogue and the portrait not come across?
The studio takes those as separate steps, so the importer leaves them for you rather than mapping them wrong. It lists whatever it skipped, and you add the portrait and any example lines in the studio before you start.
Why can the age not be under 18?
Every character on Onscene is a fictional adult. The importer refuses any text that describes a minor, and drops an age under 18 rather than carrying it over.
