Two different products wearing the same label
Candy AI and Onscene both sell adult AI companionship, but they are not the same kind of product.
Candy AI is a media-generation platform. The core loop is building a companion — choosing a face, body, voice and personality — and then generating images, voice calls and short video of that companion. The chat is wrapped around the media. That is what the tokens pay for, and it is genuinely good at it: if you want pictures of a partner you designed, Candy AI does that and Onscene does not.
Onscene is a writing-first platform. It has 74 characters (69 public), each with a cinematic portrait, a backstory and a place, and the draw is the conversation and the continuity, not generated photos. Characters text you first, remember you across sessions, and stay in character. There is no image generation inside chat.
So the honest framing is: if your main want is custom images and voice or video of your own companion, stay with Candy AI. If your main want is a character who feels like a person texting you — one who starts conversations and remembers them — that is what Onscene is built for.
The token meter versus a flat credit pack
This is the biggest practical difference, so it is worth being exact.
As of October 2026, Candy AI's sticker price is around $12.99 a month on its standard plan, with cheaper per-month rates on longer prepaid terms. Exact tier labels move around between reviews, so here is the number every 2026 review agrees on instead: the real cost. Independent reviews checked in October 2026 put typical active spending at $25–$60 a month, and $50–$80 for heavy use, once images and voice are added in. Every plan includes 100 tokens a month, and those tokens are consumed by the features people actually come for — roughly 4 tokens per image, about 3 tokens per minute of a voice call, and 15–20 tokens for a 60-second Live Action video. One reviewer burned through the monthly 100 by about day 9. Extra packs start at $9.99 for 100 tokens (roughly 8.7–10 cents each) and run up to $299.99 for 3,750. The sticker is the entry fee; the token meter is the bill.
Onscene does not meter replies against a generation budget. Credit packs start at $5 for 150 credits, where each reply costs at most 5 credits in Standard mode (10 in Uncensored mode). Monthly plans start at $8. You are paying for messages you send, not for a photo you may or may not like. A new account also gets 5 free replies, and guests can start a conversation with no account at all.
The point is predictability. On Candy AI the sticker price is only the entry fee. On Onscene the price is the price.
Memory you can read and edit
Candy AI keeps a memory of your companion and the relationship, and it carries context between chats. What it does not give you is a plain, editable record of what the companion knows — the memory is managed for you rather than handed to you.
Onscene stores each character's memory of you as an editable panel. Open it and you see the facts the character is working from: your name, what you have talked about, details you chose to keep. You can add something, correct something wrong, or delete something you no longer want in play. Because that memory lives outside the model's context window, it does not get crowded out as a conversation gets long, and a new session picks up where the last one ended.
If you have ever had a companion app quietly "forget" something important, the difference between managed memory and memory you can see and fix is the difference that matters.
Adult content and modes
Both platforms are 18+ and allow adult content; users confirm they are adults before using it.
Candy AI handles explicit content as part of its image, voice and chat generation, gated behind the paid plans and the token system.
Onscene has two modes you switch in account settings. Standard mode is romantic and suggestive without being explicit. Uncensored mode allows adult sensual content and applies across every character, so there is no hunting for a bot with the right settings. Both modes keep the writing literary rather than pornographic — the appeal is the scene and the character, not shock.
Where Candy AI wins
A fair comparison names what you give up.
Candy AI generates images, voice calls and video of your companion. Onscene does not do image generation in chat at all — it leads with writing, portraits and voice intros. If visual media is the whole point for you, Candy AI is the better fit and nothing here changes that.
Candy AI lets you design a companion from scratch — face, body, voice — as the default experience. Onscene has a create-your-own-character feature, but its strength is the 74-character curated cast, not an unlimited builder.
Candy AI has mobile apps alongside the web. Onscene is web and PWA only. For many people the PWA is enough, but there is no native app in a store.
If none of those are dealbreakers — if what you actually want is a character who texts first, remembers you, and bills you plainly — that is the trade Onscene is built to win.
